Design a paper collage and bring it to life! This six-week workshop invites artists of all skill levels to explore the basic principles of stop-motion animation using analog collage as a main medium and create a short animation of their own. Participants will prepare the elements of a collage with the intention of using some as moving pieces. Using just their phones, they will take and assemble a series of photos into a short animation. The goal is for each participant to walk away with a work they feel proud of and the skills to pursue stop-motion independently.

Week 1 - lecture and examples, a practice exercise

Week 2 - participants plan their animations and begin the analog process

Week 3 - analog process continues

Week 4 - practice round with phones, tweaks as needed

Week 5 - participants create final drafts

Week 6 - group sharing/critique, group reflection
